Here’s a cool project, a Smith & Wesson 66-8 .357 Revolver. This has a good amount of parts to it, so to have everything bake out onto my game res right I had to bake by mesh name. I learned two things - that baking by mesh name is case sensitive, and trying to use a .fbx before it’s fully exported... Doesn’t work. It corrupts your exported file. Just so you know.

With the textures, I used a combination of materials and masks to mimic dirt, grime, and soot from repeated use. I had to make about 7 alphas for all the height details.

I had to adjust some materials so it’d read better as metal instead of stone, as well as adjusting the damage information and swapping out some normals that I wasn’t satisfied with. Time to call this model finished for now. I learned quite a bit from making this thing, time to apply what I know now to something new.
