Hello! This is another part that was made for a project in Virtual Hangar, during my time as a Senior 3D Artist at Mass Virtual.
These are basically telescopes, placed on both ends of a trailer, to check for alignment. Since this particular asset was to be viewed up-close by the student, I made sure to add particular tertiary details that one would otherwise miss if seen from from a couple feet away. I also made sure to save on polygons where I thought appropriate, such as the lenses, where I faked the curvature with normal detail in Substance Painter.
There is some hand-written text on the front, that has some white mixed in with the pink from a marker, which I made sure to include. I went over with one smart material for the pink ink, then copied the layer, shifted the pink's value up, and went over the top of the handwriting to mimic the reference.
This is a pretty small asset, but one of my favorite assets I textured. There's a surprising amount of variation for what's basically a hunk of milled aluminum with some bolts in it.
