This is a Hard Hat that I made during my time as a Senior 3D artist at Mass Virtual, for Virtual Hangar.
It is a prop that was made to sit on a toolbox and be interacted with by the student in VR to "equip" for safety. It includes eye and ear protection attached, which I had posed to be able to sit flat, as it was a static object in the scene.
I always find a interesting but quick challenge in having hand-written text on an asset, as it's surprisingly not the easiest to make it look believable; not just because of handwriting, but also the medium (in this case, permanent marker on a fabric strap).
This was a quick render using iRay, so the transparency of the visor renders differently here than in-engine. The visor itself is also a separate texture, as Unity has issues with rendering transparent objects otherwise. The rest of the hard hat/accessories share one texture set.
This particular asset had a LOT of wear and tear, which I wanted to represent fully for this project. This hard hat has certainly seen hard use!
